Key purpose of Docking Station or Port Replicator

The key purpose in a docking station is to reduce wear and tear on your notebook. When used in a home or office setting, many notebook users often have several devices plugged into their notebook. The docking station allows you to keep those devices installed for your notebook to use, but minimize the amount of times you have to plug / unplug those devices into the back or sides of your notebook.
